Saskatchewan at National Women’s U18 Hockey Championship
Team Saskatchewan had a mixed start to the 2024 National Women’s U18 Hockey Championship, which began Nov. 3 in New Brunswick.
Saskatchewan opened at the championship by defeating Team Atlantic 2-1, before falling 5-2 to Ontario Red.
Looking ahead to their next match, Saskatchewan will face Alberta in their final round robin game before quarterfinals take place on Nov. 7.

Arnold takes home bronze with Team Europe at World Para Ice Hockey Challenge
Saskatoon’s Tracey Arnold joined Team Europe at the World Para Ice Hockey Women’s Challenge from Oct. 25-28, in Norway.
In overall results, Arnold captured bronze after helping her team to a 4-1 victory over Great Britain in the third-place game. Individually, she was also named Best Goaltender in the tournament and was the Player of the Game for Europe in their game against Canada.
Sopotyk named to Team Canada for Kitakyushu Champions Cup
Kyrell Sopotyk, who hails from Aberdeen, was named to the men’s wheelchair basketball NextGen roster, for the Kitakyushu Champions Cup from November 7-9 in Japan.
Team Canada is set to compete against Japan and Spain.
Team Ackerman 3-0 at 2024 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship
It was a strong start for Regina’s Team Ackerman at the 2024 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in St. Catharines, Ontario.
In their first match against the host province, Saskatchewan took the 7-5 win before edging Yukon’s Team Smallwood to a 6-5 loss.
Ackerman will enter their fourth matchup with a 3-0 record, following their 5-2 victory over Northern Ontario.
The top four teams will advance to the championship round.
Horbay level IV umpire status
Craig Horbay, from Warman, achieved a significant milestone in his umpire career, reaching level IV status for fast pitch.
Horbay was among eight other umpires to make the new status but was the only individual from Saskatchewan.
