Cote-Williamson, Knoke shine at Canadian Track and Field Championships
Maitlan Knoke, who hails from Saskatoon and La Ronge-born Brendan Cote-Williamson, both achieved podium finishes at the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Ottawa.
Cote-Williamson added two medals to his collection after finishing first in the men’s 200-metre ambulatory event with a 23.16 second time and second in the 400-m Para ambulatory event with a 51.65 second time.
While Knoke secured gold in the men’s F55 seated discus throw with a 27.99-m distance.
Three Sask. athletes named to Team Canada for Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Saskatchewan will be well represented at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to Aug. 2, as three athletes are set to represent the nation.
Garrett Ostepchuk of Regina and Kyrell Sopotyk of Aberdeen were named to Team Canada in 3×3 wheelchair basketball, with Sopotyk making his Commonwealth debut. Regina coach, Jared Sajtos, will be joining the men’s team for the duration of the Games.
Meanwhile in athletics, Saskatoon’s Maitlan Knoke is set to compete in the men’s shot put F57 event.
Chartrand named to Canada Elite Team
Softball Canada announced Jorde Chartrand, who hails from Weyburn, as part of the 16 player Elite Team roster for the 2026 Canada Cup Women’s International Softball Championship, taking place from July 6-12, in Surrey, B.C.
The Elite Team was developed to strengthen Canada’s pool of national team athletes ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
In addition, Melfort’s Keith Mackintosh will be joining two others as part of the coaching staff.
Sask. divers at Bolzano Diving Meeting Alto Adige-Sud Tirol 2026
Three Saskatchewan divers will be in action from July 3-5 at the Bolzano Diving Meeting Alto Adige-Sud Tirol 2026 in Bolzano, Italy.
Regina’s Lila Stewart will compete in the women’s 1-metre event, while Margo Erlam, who trains out of Saskatoon, will compete in the 3-m event.
Meanwhile on the men’s side, Tazman Abramowicz of Saskatoon, is set to compete in the 1-m and 3-m event.
