Seventy-four nations and territories will gather in Glasgow, Scotland for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will officially commence with Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, ahead of competition on Friday.
There will be 153 individuals attending on behalf of Canada, 10 of which have ties to Saskatchewan, including one coach and two mission staff members. From July 23 to Aug. 2, athletes will compete in nine sports and four Para sports across the Games’ four venues.

Athletes:
Jordan Carroll, Gymnastics
Saskatoon’s Jordan Carroll was the runner-up on pommel horse at the 2026 Pan American Championships, where his qualification routine ultimately led Canada to claim its title of Pan American Team Champions.
Carroll will make his Commonwealth debut in the men’s team event on July 24 and compete in the pommel horse event on July 27.
Maitlan Knoke – Shot put, Para athletics
Maitlan Knoke, who hails from Saskatoon, will be making his first Commonwealth Games appearance in the men’s shot put F57 category. He is fresh off a double gold medal performance at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.
Action in men’s shot put will take place Aug. 1.
Claire Norek – Women’s Shot put, Para athletics
Claire Norek, of Gerald, will be traveling to Scotland to make her debut at the Games. She is set to compete in the women’s shot put F57 category and will be coming off achieving a personal best of 6.02-metres at the 2026 Grand Prix of Athletics in Dubai.
Norek will compete in the women’s shot put event on July 27.
Savannah Sutherland – 400-metre hurdles, Athletics
2024 Olympian, Savannah Sutherland will represent her hometown of Borden as she once again dons the maple leaf, but this time for her Commonwealth debut. She recently helped qualify Canada a spot for the Beijing 2027 World Athletics Championships after her and her 4×400-metre relay team ran a season’s best time at the World Athletics Relays.
The first round of women’s 400-m hurdles will take place July 29, while the finals are set for July 31.
Garrett Ostepchuk, Kyrell Sopotyk – 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball
Regina’s Garrett Ostepchuk helped Canada to their gold-medal performance at the 2025 IWBF 3×3 Open World Championships and will hope to the same in Glasgow after previously being named to Team Canada for the 2022 Commonwealth Games but not being able to compete. Aberdeen’s Kyrell Sopotyk will be joining Ostepchuk on the court as they both make their 3×3 debuts for the Games.
Team Canada takes to the court on Friday with their first game against Kenya, before playing England and Australia in preliminary action. Finals will take place July 28.
Etta Love, Weightlifting
Etta Love of Saskatoon will be making her Commonwealth Games debut alongside the five other women who will be representing the nation at the event in weightlifting. Her resume includes claiming gold at both the World Youth and Junior Championships in 2024.
She will take to the stage July 29to compete in the women’s 86-kilogram event.
Coach:
Jared Sajtos, 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball
Jared Sajtos will be traveling from Saskatoon to help guide the men’s 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball as coach. Previously, Sajtos helped Canada claim gold at the 2025 Youth Parapan American Games in November as assistant coach.
Support Staff:
Monty Churchman, Massage Therapist
Saskatoon massage therapist Monty Churchman will be joining the Canadian swim team, where he will bring experience from his time as part of the core medical team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, as well as the 2023 Pan Am Games.
Graham Olson, Video Analysis
Regina’s Graham Olson will be bringing his Olympic and Paralympic Games experience to the Commonwealth Games as he will join the Canadian swimming team as race analysis. He also previously attended the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
