Sask. divers have podium finishes

While competing at the Junior World Championships in Rijeka, Croatia, two Saskatchewan divers reached the podium.

Saskatoon’s Kash Tarasoff dove to first place with partner Samuel McCaffrey in the boys’ synchronized 3-metre event with 281.82 points.

Meanwhile on the girls’ side, Regina’s Lila Stewart secured 398.80 points in the girls’ 1-m event and claimed silver.

Three Sask. wheelchair basketball players named to Team Canada

Three Saskatchewan wheelchair basketball players are set to help represent Team Canada from September 9–19 at the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, in Ottawa.

Regina duo, Nik Goncin and Garrett Ostepchuk, will join Aberdeen’s Kyrell Sopotyk on the court. In addition, assistant coach Jared Sajtos will travel from Saskatoon as part of the staff.

Canada will compete in Group A against Brazil, China, Great Britain, Australia and Spain.

In preparation for World Championships, Team Canada attended the Nations Cup in Cologne, Germany from August 20-23.
