Ashworth, Love named to national team

Oungre’s Alexis Ashworth and Saskatoon’s Etta Love will be representing Saskatchewan and Canada at the International Weightlifting Federation’s World Senior Championships Oct. 27-Nov. 8 in Ningbo, China.

Ashworth will compete in the women’s 69-kilogram division, while Love will lift in the women’s 86-plus-kig division.

Tierney medals on World Cup stop

Saskatoon swimmer Blake Tierney has added another medal to his tally while competing for Canada on a three-stop World Cup tour.

This time, Tierney and his teammates were in Uzbekistan where he swam a time of 1:50.56 to claim silver in the men’s 200-metre backstroke event.

The tour will wrap up with the final stop Oct. 15-17 to Kazakhstan.
