Tonita-Charriez fourth at FISU World University Combat Championships

Regina wrestler Javier Tonita-Charriez concluded his time at the 2026 FISU World University Combat Championships with a fourth-place finish in the men’s 57-kilogram freestyle event.

Spicer-Moran to compete at 2026 Pan American Archery Championship

Archery Canada announced Prince Albert’s Tristan Spicer-Moran as part of the team that will travel to Tlaxcala, Mexico for the 2026 Pan American Archery Championship from June 22-28.

Spicer-Moran is set to compete with the men’s compound team.

The championship will serve as the primary qualification event for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, which is part of the pathway to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Varga, Team Canada mixed results at Volleyball Nations League

Skyler Varga, who hails from Muenster, has joined Team Canada on the court at the Volleyball Nations League tournament in Ottawa.

Canada opened their time in Ontario with a 2-3 (26-24.19-25, 25-20, 21-25, 13-15) loss against Germany, before making a 3-1 (25-20, 25-28, 21-25, 27-25) comeback over France.

They followed that with back-to-back losses after the United States won 3-2 (25-20, 35-33, 24-26, 21-25, 11-25) and Türkiye took the 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 8-15) win.

Canada currently sits 13th in preliminary standings.
