Canada claimed 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series title
Team Canada wrapped the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series in Shanghai, China by securing gold after an overtime battle against Amsterdam saw the red and white secure the 19-17 victory.
Paige Crozon of Humboldt, with teammates Katherine Plouffe, Merissah Russell and Tara Wallack defeated Thailand 21-14 in quarterfinals, before dominating Beijing 21-11 in semi-finals and securing their place in the series’ final.
Lakeman, Ridgewell selected to 2027 Canada Games Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Program
Regina’s Leah Lakeman (ringette) and Outlook’s Samantha Ridgewell (hockey) were selected as Saskatchewan’s representatives to attend the 2027 Canada Winter Games in Quebec City, as part of the 2027 Canada Games Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Program.
Alongside 23 other coaches, Lakeman and Ridgewell will attend the Games in apprenticeship roles and will have direct involvement in the preparation and competition. In addition, the pair will attend two professional development weekends ahead of the Games and have the opportunity to connect, network and further develop their education and skills as coaches.
The purpose of the Program is to provide female coaches with practical and integrated major national multi-sport game experience.
