This fall, Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan will host a five-part coach learning series, facilitated by Beth Barz, the Coach Developer, and designed to support coaches in developing the mindset, skills and habits that lead to more intentional, values-driven coaching.
This series is built on the belief that all coaches can thrive, and that meaningful, sustained coach development happens through reflection, challenge and community, not just content delivery. Each session is designed to be practical and engaging, with at least one breakout room discussion opportunity, inviting coaches to apply what they are learning directly to their real coaching environments.
Each of the workshops that are part of the series will be one-hour long, running from 12-1 p.m. on Zoom. Coaches will receive one professional development point for each workshop they attend. Detailed information about each of the workshops and registration is available below.
About the Facilitator
Beth is a coach developer and performance consultant who works with coaches who care deeply — about their athletes, their impact and their own growth. She earned her Master’s in Leadership and also Coach Developer certifications through the National Coaching Certification Program with the Coaching Association of Canada and has spent the last 20 years supporting coaches worldwide; and was recognized with a national coach development award in 2022. She has always been fascinated by the layers of coaching that don’t show up on stat sheets: the split-second decisions, the conversations that linger, the habits you didn’t realize you had and the values you’re trying to live out under pressure.

Values-Based Coaching (Wednesday, September 16)
Coaching philosophy begins with the coach. Participants clarify their core values and explore how to translate them into daily decisions, communication, and culture, so that their coaching is intentional rather than accidental.
-
Transformational Coaching (Wednesday, October 7)
What does it actually mean to coach transformationally? This session explores the practical behaviours that elevate athlete performance and relationships and invites coaches to examine what they are already doing well and where growth is possible.
-
Conflict Management (Wednesday, October 28)
Conflict is inevitable in sport. This session gives coaches a framework for navigating difficult conversations with athletes, parents, and colleagues in ways that strengthen relationships rather than damage them.
-
Culture Building (Wednesday, November 18)
Culture is not something that happens to a team, it is something coaches build, reinforce, and sustain through deliberate choices. This session helps coaches define what they want their culture to be and identify the behaviours that bring it to life.
-
Making Sense of it All (Wednesday, December 9)
The final session brings the series together through a community of practice approach. Coaches reflect on their learning across the series, share what they are applying, explore tensions and questions, and commit to next steps. This session is designed to foster connection, shared learning, and ongoing momentum beyond the series.
