Team Saskatchewan has been named for Scotties and Brier
It’s official, the teams that will represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and Montana’s Brier have been decided following results at provincial events.
Nancy Martin and her Saskatoon team won the championship game at the Viterra Prairie Pinnacle and a spot at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts from Feb. 14-23 in Thunder Bay. Team Martin will feature third Chaelynn Stewart, second Kadriana Lott, lead Deanna Doig and alternate Colleen Ackerman
Meanwhile, at the Saskatchewan Men’s Curling Championship, Rylan Kleiter and his Saskatoon team took the title and earned the right to represent Saskatchewan at the 2025 Montana’s Brier from Feb. 28 – Mar. 9 in Kelowna. Joining Team Kleiter will be third Joshua Mattern, second Matthew Hall and lead Trevor Johnson.
In addition, Team McEwen will also represent the green and yellow at the Brier with Mike McEwen as skip, Colton Flasch as third, Kevin Marsh as second and Daniel Marsh joining as lead.
Norsten, Senft wrap time in Perth
After falling 14-7 playing for bronze against France at the third stop of the HSBC SVNS rugby tour, Canada sits fifth in the tour’s standings.
Waldheim’s Carissa Norsten and Regina’s Gabrielle Senft joined the team in Perth for their 4-0 round robin play, before the host team, Australia took the 24-17 win in semifinals leaving Canada to play for third place.

Schindel at Canadian National Skating Championships
Saskatoon figure skater, Rebecca Schindel finished twelfth at the Canadian National Skating Championships in Laval, Quebec.
Schindel wrapped her time at the championships with 121.88 points.
Griffin, Newman named to Canadian softball team
Softball Canada released their roster set to compete at the WBSC Americas II Pan American U15 Women’s Championship, from March 20-29 in Acapulco, Mexico.
Kenzie Newman of Regina was named alongside White City’s Claire Griffin, who will join as the team’s alternate.
Fish top finisher
Graeme Fish, who hails from Moose Jaw, was the top Canadian finisher at the third ISU World Cup Speed Skating event, which took place Jan. 24-26 in Calgary.
He finished fifth in the men’s 10,000-metre event with a 12:40.10 time and did not compete again.
