Bronze for Canada Rugby 7s
The Canadian women’s sevens team dazzles in bronze after defeating the United States 24-19 in third-place playoffs at the 2026 HSBC SVNS stop in Singapore.
Waldheim’s Carissa Nortsen and Regina’s Gabrielle Senft joined Canada for their 29-24 victory over France before falling 19-12 against New Zealand and wrapping pool play by dominating Great Britain 52-0. The red and white fell 35-10 against Australia in semifinals which earned them a spot in the bronze medal game.
Canada will look ahead to their next stop of the series Feb 7, in Perth, Australia.
Erlam shines in silver
Margo Erlam, who trains out of Saskatoon, claimed two silver medals at the 2026 AGB Diving International in Great Britain, which took place from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1.
Alongside diving partner Sonya Palkhivala, Erlam secured silver in the 3-metre synchro event with 271.20 points and finished second in the 3-m event with 312.60 points.
Lightfoot named to Para National Team
Badminton Canada announced the 2026 YONEX National Team rosters, which are divided into three specific teams including the Senior National Team, NextGen Team and the Para National Team.
Regina’s Wyatt Lightfoot was named alongside eight other athletes to the Para National Team, with Lightfoot set to compete in the SH6 category.
Major to represent Canada for Softball World Cup
Max Major, who hails from Delisle, was named among the 16 players selected to represent Canada at the 2026 WBSC U23 Men’s Softball World Cup, set to take place April 24 to May 3, in Sincelejo, Colombia.
