It was a silver-medal finish for Shaw on Friday at the Games, as she raced to second place with a time of 3:47.005 in the C4-C5 Track 3,000-metre Individual Pursuit Final. It’s the first medal for a Saskatchewan athlete at the Parapan American Games.

Shaw had the top time in the event’s qualification race early Friday afternoon, clocking a time of 3:46.931 to advance to the finals.

There’s one final race left for Shaw on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 7:45 a.m. Saskatchewan time, when she competes in the C4-C5 Road Race final.

Nik Goncin and Garrett Ostepchuk, Men’s Wheelchair Basketball

Team Canada will play for bronze after falling to Colombia 64-53 in Friday morning’s semifinal game. Goncin recorded 21 points in the loss, while Ostepchuk added two points.

The Regina duo will look to finish their wrap up their time at the Games with a podium spot as they and the rest of the Canadian squad take on Argentina for bronze on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. Saskatchewan time.

Wyatt Lightfoot, Para Badminton – SH6 Individual

A 2-1 record in the round robin advanced Lightfoot to Thursday’s quarterfinals where his Games’ journey came to an end.

Taking on Peru’s Hector Salva, Lightfoot lost the match 1-2 (17-21, 21-19 and 11-21) to finish the competition ranked fifth overall.

Myriam Soliman, Para Swimming
