Krushen and Ulmer-Lutudromu compete with Canada’s water polo team
Regina’s Syndey Krushen and Maklayla Ulmer-Lutudromu joined Canada’s water polo team at the 2024 World Aquatics Women’s U18 Championships from September 15-22, in Chengdu, China.
After going 2-1 in preliminary action, Canada was defeated by Italy 14-8 in the crossover match before entering classification.
The Canadians then had back-to-back losses, falling to China 10-4 and 14-11 to Israel in their final match, to finish 12th overall.

Blais named to Creating Coaches program
Jordyn Blais, of Turtleford, was one of nine student-athletes chosen by Hockey Canada and U SPORTS to join the Creating Coaches program.
For the duration of the 2024-26 seasons, Blais and the others will receive training and mentorship, with the goal of increasing the number of women hockey coaches in Canada.
Each student-athlete will be an assistant coach for a U13, U15 or U18 girls’ hockey team and receive coach education, an honorarium and various professional development opportunities.
Djukic shines with World Archery Field Championship bronze
Canada hosted the World Archery Field Championships for the first time, from Sept. 16-22 in Lac La Biche, Alberta, with North Battleford’s Jovica Djukic securing bronze.
Djukic also joined Andrew Fagan and Brian Maxwell on the Canadian men’s team and edged Team Sweden to a 59-57 win to claim bronze.
