Two Sask schools receive Team Canada Olympic Day Grant
Annually on June 23, Team Canada celebrates Olympic Day by selecting schools across the nation to receive funding from the Team Canada Olympic Day Grant.
Saskatchewan’s Humboldt Public School and Raymore School were among the 30 schools to receive the 2025 edition of the grant. As recipients, the schools will receive funding for school-based programs and projects that empower students to play and stay in sport and create safe and positive sporting experiences.

CurlSask receives 2025-26 Paralympic Sport Development Fund
CurlSask’s Wheelchair Curling program was named as one of the 18 sport organizations to receive the 2025-26 Paralympic Sport Development Fund.
In an effort to increase wheelchair curling opportunities in the province, CurlSask will partner with Para athlete support organizations, school boards, post-secondary institutions and physical rehabilitation centres to help host “Give it a go” sessions.
Three Sask wheelchair basketball players attend National Team Selection Camp
Aberdeen’s Kyrell Sopotyk will join Regina duo, Garrett Ostepchuk and Nik Goncin for a National Team selection camp hosted by Wheelchair Basketball Canada from June 24-29 in Ottawa.
The camp will help athletes continue in the development of their skills while staff members make final evaluations for the upcoming roster selection ahead of this summer’s international events.
In addition, Jared Sajtos, of Saskatoon, will be in attendance as guest coach.
Norsten, Senft at rugby training camp
In preparation for the Canadian women’s rugby team competing in South Africa ahead of the Rugby World Cup, Regina’s Gabrielle Senft and Waldheim’s Carissa Norsten joined 36 others in a training camp from June 20-27 in Perth, Ontario.
Following training, Canada will play two games against the Springbok Women in South Africa, July 5 and July 12.
Chartrand named to Canada Cup roster
Softball Canada announced Jorde Chartrand, who hails from Weyburn, as one of the 21 athletes who will compete at the 2025 Canada Cup from July 7–13 in Surrey, B.C.
