Zablocki joins Team Canada for IIHF U18 World Championship
Stryker Zablocki, who hails from Prince Albert, joined Team Canada as defending champions at the Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship from January 6 to 14, in Switzerland.
Canada is ranked first in Group A standings, starting strong in their first game against Germany dominating 11-0 before defeating Czechia 8-1. In the final game of the round robin, Canada came out on top, beating Finland 10-0 with Zablocki picking up a goal and assist in the game to add to her assist in the game against Czechia.
Zablocki and the team will look ahead to quarterfinals on Thursday, with their opponent yet to be announced.
Carroll, Priddell announced for 2024 World Aquatics Championships
Regina’s Kenzie Pridell and Saskatoon’s Sydney Carroll are set to join Canada’s artistic swim team at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships from Feb. 2 to 10, in Doha, Qatar.
The event is the final opportunity to qualify for Paris 2024, leaving Canada the chance to earn one of five spots based on the aggregate scores of the technical, free and acrobatic team routine.

Schmitz and Taylor at Canadian National Skating Championships
Regina pair, Ashlyn Schmitz and Tristan Taylor join Canada’s other elite figure skaters for the 2024 Canadian National Skating Championships from January 8-14, in Calgary.
Schmitz and Taylor will be competing for medals and a qualifying spot on the Skate Canada National Team as well as other Canadian teams set to compete in numerous international championships in 2024.
Stein secures December Athlete of the Month
Janz Stein’s Canadian record-breaking 6.46-metre jump at the Larmer Friendship Games in Regina earned him a silver medal and honour of Sask Sport’s December Athlete of the Month.
