Saskatoon reps help Canada to para hockey world silver

Goalie Tracey Arnold and physiotherapist Betsy Mawdsley, both of Saskatoon, were both part of the Canadian team that brought home a silver medal from the Women’s Para Hockey World Challenge, following a 2-0 loss to the United States on Sunday.

In the event’s round robin, Canada defeated Team World 4-2 and Great Britain 9-0 while also falling 3-0 to the United States on Day 1 of action.

McDonald continues as Hockey Canada mental health consultant

Regina’s Kyle McDonald is part of Hockey Canada’s selection camp, being held this week in Calgary, as the organization evaluates players for the next national para hockey team.

This year’s camp wraps up Friday with the final roster scheduled to compete at the International Para Hockey Cup in October. That event is to take place in Ostrava, Czechia, and will be followed by a Canadian Para Hockey Cup event scheduled for Dec. 3-9 in New Brunswick.

McDonald will serve as the team’s mental performance consultant – a position he also recently held for Team Canada at the World Para Ice Hockey Championship in May.

Crozon helps Canada to 3×3 basketball victory

Humboldt’s Paige Crozon and the Canadian 3×3 basketball team have won their fifth event of the International Basketball Federation’s 2023 season after completing an undefeated run at the Montreal tournament with a 21-12 win over the United States on Sunday.

It was the fifth victory for Canada in nine competitions and leaves them third in the world rankings with one stage remaining in the FIBA Women’s 3×3 Series. The final round in this year’s schedule is slated for Sept. 16-17 in Mongolia.

Kos, Canada reach lawn bowling quarterfinals

Jordan Kos of Regina helped Team Canada reach the quarterfinals of the 2023 World Outdoor Bowls Championship which is being played on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

Kos and her women’s fours teammates defeated Norfolk Island, India, Ireland, Botswana and the United States to post a 5-1 record during round-robin play before falling 17-9 to Scotland in Thursday’s quarterfinal.

Regina water polo players heading to world junior championship

Mikayla Hack and Simone Lapierre, both of Regina, have been named to the final roster for Canada’s water polo entry at the 2023 World Aquatics Women’s U20 Championship

Water Polo Canada announced its updated roster of 13 players Friday. The world junior championship is contested every two years and this year will feature 15 countries competing from Sept. 8-15 in Portugal.
