Canadian U20 Women’s Rugby Team takes half in two-game series
Elle Douglas, who hails from Saskatoon, joined Canada’s U20 women’s rugby team for a two-game series against Ireland.
The red and white claimed the first victory, 26-15 on May 10, before falling 32-14 to the host team seven days later, splitting the series.

Varga named to Team Canada for 2025 season
Muenster’s Skyler Varga has been named to the senior men’s national team by Volleyball Canada.
Varga along with 18 other athletes will open their season by competing in the Volleyball Nations League June 11, in Quebec City. Following their time in Quebec, the team will compete in the United States and Slovenia with the goal of qualifying for finals, in China.
Canada sits second in 2025 IIHF World Championship group standings
Team Canada and Brayden Schenn, of Saskatoon, sit second in 2025 IIHF World Championship group standings after claiming three victories and their first loss.
Canada had back-to-back wins going 5-0 over France, 5-1 against Austria and dominating Slovakia 7-0, before a turn of events, with Canada falling 2-1 against Finland.
Preliminary action will wrap with the Canadians taking on Sweden, before finals begin May 22.

Lipinski named defensive coordinator of men’s national flag football team
Regina-born Joel Lipinski has been named the defensive coordinator for the men’s national flag football team.
Lipinski will be bringing an arsenal of experience, ranging from his time as defensive coordinator for the senior men’s flag football team and from his personal experience as a national athlete himself.

Senft joins Canada for Pacific Four Series
The Canadian women’s rugby team and Regina’s Gabrielle Senft opened the Pacific Four Series on a high.
In the first game of the Series, Canada took the 26-14 win over the United States, before an intense match against New Zealand ended with a 27-27 draw.
Pool play will wrap with Canada facing Australia.
Canada falls to Netherlands FIBA 3×3 Series Final
Canada claimed second-place after falling 21-11 against host team, the Netherlands, in the FIBA 3×3 Amsterdam Women’s Series 2025 Final.
Paige Crozon of Humboldt, with teammates Cassandra Brown, Saicha Grant-Allen and Katherine Plouffe started strong with a 21-8 victory over Ireland and 21-12 win over Puerto Rico, before taking the 22-14 win over Czechia in quarterfinals.
Canada earned a spot to play for gold after defeating Poland 21-13 in semifinal action.
