Para swimmer Nikita Ens nominated for Paralympic team
Nikita Ens is among seven athletes announced Tuesday by Swimming Canada as provisional nominees to the Paralympic team.
Swimming Canada’s Para swimming Selection Committee made the decision after the cancellation of the Paralympic Swimming Trials slated for June. The seven swimmers named, including Meadow Lake’s Nikita Ens, contested a final at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London.
Ens joins Saskatoon’s Shelby Newkirk, who was an earlier selection based on original criteria. Ens and Newkirk will be joined by their coach Eric Kramer at the Games. Kramer was named a coach for the Paralympic team in early 2020.

The men’s berth was secured in April by Alberta’s Brendan Bottcher.
Who will represent Canada at the Games will be decided at the 2021 Roar of the Rings, scheduled Nov. 20-28 in Saskatoon.
