Vickaryous victorious at Junior Elite National Diving Championships
Lauren Vickaryous, who hails from Regina, secured gold at the 2025 Speedo Junior Elite National Championships in Edmonton.
Vickaryous dove to 420.00 points in the women’s group B 3-metre dive event to earn a spot top of the podium.
Senft to join Canada at Rugby World Cup
Regina forward, Gabrielle Senft was named to Team Canada’s roster for the Rugby World Cup 2025, taking place Aug. 22-Sept. 27 in England.
Canada will compete in Pool B against Scotland, Wales and Fiji.
Canadian water polo team wrapped their time at World Aquatics Championships
Regina’s Brody McKnight joined the Canadian men’s water polo team at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, finishing in 11th place overall.
Canada went 1-3 in group play before suffering an 18-12 loss to Romania. The red and white played Brazil in their final game, taking the 16-11 win to wrap their time in Singapore.
Sheldon Goertzen will help guide two Canadian hockey teams
University of Saskatchewan hockey coach, Sheldon Goertzen, will help guide Canada’s National Women’s U-18 Team and Canada’s National Women’s Development Team during the 2025-26 season.
Goertzen will be taking on the role of goaltending coach for the season.
Erlam at the World Aquatics Championships
Diver Margo Erlam, who trains out of Saskatoon, is representing Canada at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, from July 11- Aug. 3.
She finished 17th in the 1-metre dive event with 234.65 points and will look ahead to her performance in the 3-m event on July 31.
Six athletes from Sask. attend FISU Summer World University Games
Numerous Saskatchewan athletes wrapped their time at the 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Summer World University Games in Germany.
Four athletes competed in athletics and came home with mixed results. Warman’s Paige Willems competed with the women’s 4×400-metre relay team to claim bronze, Saskatoon’s Jake Neufeld competed in various decathlon events and finished 13th overall. Meanwhile, Regina’s Jonathan Podbielski finished eighth in the men’s 1500-m event and Hannah Hagerty finished 11th in the women’s long jump event.
Saskatoon’s Jason Reindl attended as a sprints/hurdles coach.
Saskatoon’s Pepper Howe secured first in the women’s double scull event, while Calvin Pally finished third in the men’s double sculls.
Monty Churchman and Alexandra Zaluski, both of Saskatoon, joined Canada as mission staff.
