Sask. athlete and coach to represent Canada in Pan American shooting events

Richard McBride of Saskatoon and Lisa Borgerson of Fort Qu’Appelle will look to help Canada secure an Olympic berth after being named to Canada’s shooting team for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago. McBride is one of 14 shooters who will compete for the national team, while Borgerson was named Canada’s national pistol coach for the event.

Shooting events in Santiago are scheduled for Oct. 21-27.

Shaw named to Pan Am paracycling team

Midale’s Keely Shaw has been announced as a member of Team Canada’s paracycling entry at the ParaPan American Games, which take place Nov. 17-26 in Santiago, Chile. Shaw is scheduled to compete in C4 para road and para track events in Santiago.

Saskatoon ball player named to Team Canada ahead of U18 World Cup

Ray Rayn of Saskatoon has been named to the Canadian under-18 men’s national team that will compete in the U18 Men’s Softball World Cup from November 11-19 in Hermosillo, Mexico. Team Canada qualified for the World Cup with a bronze-medal finish at the WBSC Americas Pan American Championship in Sincelejo, Colombia earlier this month.

Prince Albert umpire receives Level 4 certification after nationals

Softball Canada has announced that 13 umpires, including Prince Albert’s Guy Lafreniere, have received their Level 4 certification, resulting from their outstanding performances at the 2023 Canadian Championships.
