Senft helps Canada to victory in WXV1 match against Wales 

Regina-born Gabrielle Senft joined Team Canada at the WXV1 match against Wales on October 21, in New Zealand. 

Canada’s rugby team defeated Wales 42-22 in the opening match, bringing their winning streak up to seven games. 

The second match is set for October 26, when Canada will take on England. 

Goncin and Ostepchuk announced as ParaPan Am wheelchair basketball roster 

Regina duo, Nik Goncin and Garrett Ostepchuk are set to join the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball men’s team for the 2023 Santiago Parapan Am Games from November 17-26, in Chile. 

This will be the third time Goncin has represented Canada at the ParaPan Am Games, having done so in 2015 and 2019 as well, while it will be the first appearance for Ostepchuk at the event. Both have also competed for Canada at the Paralympics with Goncin attending the 2016 and 2020 Games and Ostepchuk joining in 2020. 

Five individuals from Saskatchewan set to attend 2023 World U17 Hockey Challenge  

Five individuals from around the province were announced by Hockey Canada as members of Team Canada Red and Team Canada White for the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge from November 2-11, in Charlotte Town and Summerside. 

Canada Red Team 

  • Cole Reschny from Macklin 
  • Whitewood’s Reese Hamilton  
  • Barclay Parneta Director of Operations is attending from Saskatoon 
  • Matt Anholt of Prince Albert will be Assistant Coach 

Canada White Team 

  • Joby Baumuller from Wilcox 

The event is meant to be an international showcase of young hockey talent.
