Kleiter, Thibault receive Fran Todd All Heart Junior Curler Awards 

Madison Kleiter from Saskatoon and Swift Current’s Aryn Thibault are among five recipients of the Fran Todd All Heart Junior Curler Award. 

Kleitter received the Curling Connection Award for her diversity and inclusion program focusing on students local to Saskatoon and surrounding communities. The program is dedicated to promoting 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, Indigenous communities and people experiencing disabilities. 

Thibault received the Community Through Curling Award for offering a three-week introduction to curling program that was designed for new Canadians. The program was offered through the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Centre and welcomes attendees to one of Canada’s valued sports. 

The individuals that received the honours were selected for practicing inclusion and equity through their passion for curling within their community.  

Anholt announced as staff member to join 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships 

Peter Anholt, a Naicam local, was announced as a member of the management group for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, in Sweden. 

Anholt will act as the U20 lead for the Program of Excellence management group and was involved with selecting the staff for the event.  

Nickel announced by Wrestling Canada Lutte as member of Team Canada for the U23 World Championships 

Swift Current’s Aleah Nickel is set to join Team Canada at the U23 World Championships from Oct. 23 to 29, in Tirana, Albania. 

Nickel will compete in the WW 62- kilogram weight class. She recently won a gold medal at the Francophone Games and bronze at the Pan-Am Championships. The U23 Championships will offer Nickel another opportunity to stand on the podium.
