Goncin, Ostepchuk finish third with Team Canada at Invitational
Regina athletes, Nik Goncin and Garrett Ostepchuk helped Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team to finish in third place at Ottawa Invitational over the weekend.
Canada won against the United States 67-55 on Friday, but during their final play of the tournament, Team Canada was defeated by the Netherlands 63-47, with nine points scored by Goncin.

Crozon to join Team Canada for FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2023
Humbolt’s Paige Crozon was announced alongside three other elite athletes to join Team Canada for the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2023 from May 30 to June 4, in Vienna, Austria.
The foursome is returning to the court after receiving a silver medal and first-place finish in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series in 2022. Each player is currently ranked in the top six in the FIBA 3×3 Individual World Ranking. Team Canada is walking into the 2023 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series with previous wins including four tournament titles in last years’ FIBA 3×3 and a gold medal from the FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup 2022.
Canada will be playing against five other teams in Pool C and will play against Czech Republic and the United States for the first day, May 30 and Mongolia and Hungary June 1.

Canada sits in second place within their group at the Ice Hockey World Championship
Ochapowace’s Ethan Bear and Team Canada achieved second place in Group B, with 15 points and a 4-1-1-1 record at the men’s 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship.
Canada played hard against their opponents and defeated Czechia in their final preliminary-round game 3-1. In earlier action, Canada defeated Kazakhstan 5-1, before back-to-back loses against Switzerland 3-2 and Norway, who won 3-2 in a penalty-shot shootout.
The Canadian squad will advance to the quarter-finals on May 25, but their opponent is still to be determined.
