Saskatchewan takes to Scotties Tournament of Hearts
The 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts kicked off on Feb. 14 in Thunder Bay, with Saskatchewan being represented by Team Nancy Martin.
Following Tuesday afternoon’s 10-5 loss to Team Skrlik of Alberta, Saskatchewan is sitting in fifth place with an 3-3 record. The team started strong, with back-to back wins, but has had a mishmash of results since, including losses to British Columbia and Team Canada as well as a win over New Brunswick.
Joining skip Nacy Martin at the Scotties is lead Deanna Doig, second Kadriana Lott, third Chaelynn Stewart, alternate Colleen Ackerman and coach Sherry Anderson.
They’ll wrap up round robin play on Feb. 19 with games against Nunavut and Alberta.

Nortsen named to Team Canada
Waldheim’s Carissa Nortsen will be back in action with Canada’s women’s sevens team for the fourth stop of the 2025 HSBC SVNS series in Vancouver.
The tournament will begin Feb. 21 and feature Canada playing in a pool against Brazil, Spain and Australia.

Hudak finishes fifth
Prince Albert Para Nordic skier, Brittnay Hudak, finished fifth at the 2025 Para Cross Country World Championships, which took place Feb. 10-14 in Toblach, Italy.
Pletz attends Biathlon World Championships
Regina’s Logan Pletz is among the eight athletes representing Canada at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
He finished 89th in the men’s 10-kilometre sprint event.
