Sask. wraps time at Junior World Diving Championships
Saskatchewan divers achieved even more excellence at the Junior World Championships in Rijeka, Croatia.
Lila Stewart, who hails from Regina, added another medal to her collection after diving to third place with synchro partner, Mackenzie-Mai Van Houtte-Cachero in the 3-metre event with 256.92 points.
Meanwhile on the boys’ side, Kash Tarasoff of Saskatoon finished fourth in the Group A platform event with a score of 539.45 points.
2026 Para Pan Pacific Championships conclude
From Aug. 28-30, two Saskatchewan swimmers helped represent the maple leaf at the 2026 Para Pan Pacific Championships in Walnut, California.
Saskatoon’s Shelby Newkirk finished ninth in the 400-metre freestyle event with a time of 5:34.99 seconds and finished 18th overall in 100-m freestyle with a time of 1:15.83 seconds.
Also in the pool was Prince Albert’s Ali Diehl, who finished 13th in the 100-m breaststroke event with a time of 1:22.59 seconds, as well as 15th in the 50-m freestyle event with a time of 31.05 seconds.
In addition, the pair represented the country on the mixed 4×100-m freestyle relay team and helped bring Canada a sixth-place finish in a time of 4:26.47 seconds.
Saskatoon coach Ryan Jones joined Team Canada on the pool deck for the duration of the championship.
Canadian women’s rugby 15s at 2026 WXV Global Series
From Sept. 12-26, Canada’s women’s 15s rugby team is set to take on Scotland, England and France in the first three bouts of the 2026 WXV Global Series in Europe, before returning to home soil for the final two matches in Toronto and Ottawa.
Gabrielle Senft will travel from Regina to join 35 other players in representing the country for the series.
