Wright, Dash named to Canada’s National Wheelchair Curling Program

Moose Jaw’s Marie Wright and Regina’s Gil Dash are among the eight athletes named to Canada’s National Wheelchair Curling Program for the 2022-23 season.

Wright, who previously won bronze at the 2018 Paralympic Games for Canada, competed in the first-ever mixed doubles world championship last year in Finland. Meanwhile, Dash is the newcomer to the team this year after playing for Team Saskatchewan in past national championships. Both Wright and Dash will now be competing for spots on Team Canada for the World Wheelchair Curling Championship and the World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, set for March 2023.

Musschoot, Opseth in action at the U21 NORCECA Men’s Pan American Cup

Team Canada’s men’s under-21 volleyball team, featuring Grenfell’s Lucas Musschoot and Birch Hills’ Noah Opseth, opened the U21 NORCECA Men’s Pan American Cup in Cuba with a 3-0 win against Nicaragua on Monday. Next up for Canada is a match against Haiti on Wednesday.

The final is set for Sat. Oct. 8.

Canada finishes with silver at the International Para Hockey Cup

Regina’s Kyle McDonald, Team Canada’s mental performance consultant, was part of the support staff to take home silver at the International Para Hockey Cup, which wrapped up on Sept. 30.

Canada fell to the United States 4-0 in the gold medal game. Team Canada will now gear up for the 2022 Para Hockey Cup, set to begin Nov. 27 in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
