Senft, Canada second in world rugby rankings
Regina’s Gabrielle Senft joined the Canadian women’s rugby team for their opening match of the WXV 1 competition on Sept. 29, in Vancouver.
Canada dominated France 46-24 and advanced to second place in world rankings.
Looking ahead, Canada is set to face Ireland in their second match of WXV 1 on Oct. 5.

Team McEwen takes PointsBet Invitational curling title
It was a clean sweep for Team McEwen at the 2024 PointsBet Invitational, which took place Sept. 25-29 in Calgary, Alberta.
Regina-born brothers, Kevin (second) and Daniel Marsh (lead) joined skip Mike McEwen and third Colton Flasch in a 3-0 record.
Team McEwen advanced to finals against Newfoundland and Labrador’s Team Gushue, with Saskatchewan taking the 8-3 win and the PointsBet Invitational title.
Tierney to attend World Aquatics Swimming Championships
Saskatoon’s Blake Tierney will join Canada’s senior national swim team at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships from Dec. 10-15 in Budapest, Hungary.
The morning will feature heats and will be followed by an afternoon of semi-finals and finals.
