Shirley, Clark to represent Canada in Rivalry Series

Saskatoon hockey duo, Sophie Shirley and Emily Clark, will don the maple leaf once again with Team Canada for the 2024-25 Rivalry Series. The five-game series is set to begin Nov. 6 in San Jose, California and will wrap up Feb. 8, 2025 in Summerside, P.E.I.

Musgrave, Oatway named to Canadian National Ski Team

Garrett Musgrave, of Lloydminster and Kurt Oatway from Regina, are among the 53 athletes named to the Canadian National Ski Team for the 2024-25 season.

Oatway will join the Para alpine team, while Musgraves is set to compete in the ski cross discipline with the Nextgen team.

Simpson Level Five Umpire

Saskatoon’s JR Simpson received his Level V slow-pitch umpire status, after attending the Men’s Slo-Pitch Canadian Championships in August.

Simpson will now have the opportunity to attend the WBSC umpire certification seminar, which would allow him to pursue international status.

Saskatchewan Wheelchair Curling receives Paralympic grant

Saskatchewan Wheelchair Curling was one of ten recipients of the 2024-25 Paralympic Sport Development Fund grant.

The grant’s intention is to help develop and grow Para sport programming in the province with a focus on education, athlete development, and expanding coach expertise.

Saskatchewan Wheelchair Curling intends to host two camps with grant funding supporting the promotion of mental and physical development of athletes, as well as the payment of coaches.
