Madol representing Canada at FIBA U17 World Cup
Regina’s Ajok Madol is donning the red and white with Team Canada at the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 in Hungary.
The Archbishop M.C. O’Neill High School student helped Canada finish 2-1 in Group C action and they will take on New Zealand in a round of 16 clash on Wednesday. The winner will either play Argentina or host Hungary in a quarter-final matchup on Friday.
Chartrand, Canada set to wrap up at World Games
After suiting up for Canada in her home province of Saskatchewan during the 2022 Celebration Tour, Jorde Chartrand is pitching for Team Canada at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Chartrand and Canada finished 1-2 in the group stage before defeating Mexico 8-1 to advance to Wednesday’s fifth-place game against Puerto Rico.
Newkirk the Sask Sport Athlete of the Month
After what was a tremendous showing at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships, Shelby Newkirk was recognized as the Sask Sport June Athlete of the Month,
Newkirk won gold in the women’s 100 metre freestyle S6 with a time of 1:20.96, while also being a part of four Canadian records at the event — including a personal best time of 1:15.21 in the women’s 100-m freestyle S6, which was good for a fourth-place finish.
