Strong start for Canada
Saskatoon forward Alida Korte and Team Canada brought the heat to open their time at the 2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Sydney and Membertou, Nova Scotia.
Canada defeated Switzerland 9-0 in their first game before dominating Hungary 14-0.
The Canadians currently sit top of their group and will face Sweden next to wrap preliminary action.

Five Sask. players to attend WBSC Americas Pan American Championship
Five Saskatchewan softball players are among those announced to represent the nation for the WBSC Americas Pan American Championship, taking place Feb. 21-28 in Monteria, Colombia.
- Jordan Hudson, Devon McCullough – Saskatoon
- Ryan Bicknell – Prince Albert
- Justin Laskowski -Warman
- Max Major – Delisle
The event will serve as a qualifier for the 2028 WBSC Men’s World Cup Group Stage.
On the coaching side, Saskatoon’s Ryan Ray will be joining as guest coach for the event.
Schwinghammer at Freestyle World Cup
Saskatoon-born Maïa Schwinghammer, made another stop on the World Cup circuit in Val St. Côme, Quebec.
She finished sixth in the women’s moguls event, which had final results based on the qualification round due to weather cancellations. In addition, Schwinghammer also competed in the dual moguls event to finish seventh.
She currently sits seventh in World Cup standings.
Clark headed to third Olympic Games
Saskatoon forward Emily Clark will be heading to her third Olympics as part of the Canadian women’s hockey team after being announced as a player for the Canadian roster competing at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games.
Clark has previously won gold and silver Olympic medals with the team.
