Reschny named to Hockey Canada World Junior Camp

Hockey Canada announced Macklin forward, Cole Reschny as part of the 27 player roster who will battle to represent the nation at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Reschny will join the rest of the invites for training camp Dec. 13-22 in Niagara Falls with hopes of making the final cut and competing for Canada at the tournament Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Canada is set to compete in Group B against Finland, Czechia, Latvia and Denmark.

Humboldt’s Brad Lauer is set to join the team as assistant coach.

Three Sask. divers compete at National Championships

From Dec. 5-7, three Saskatchewan divers competed at the 2026 Winter National Diving Championships in Calgary, with two bringing home medals.

Saskatoon’s Tazman Abramowicz claimed two medals after he finished second in the men’s 1-metre event with 344.65 points and third in the 3-m event with 372.05 points.

Kash Tarasoff, of Saskatoon, claimed bronze in the men’s 10-m with 405.70 points.

Meanwhile on the women’s side, Margo Erlam, who trains out of Saskatoon, finished fourth in the 3-m event with 276.90 points.

Norsten joins Canada for HSBC Cape Town SVNS

Waldheim’s Carissa Norsten and the Canadian women’s sevens team finished fourth in their pool at the HSBC Cape Town SVNS stop.

Canada started strong by dominating Fiji 33-14 before narrowly losing 12-10 against Japan. The Canadians closed out the tournament with back-to-back losses, 31-12 against France and 26-19 against Australia.

Canada will look to improve their seventh-place position in standings on Jan. 31, 2026 for the HSBC Singapore SVNS stop.

Fish tenth at ISU Speed Skating World Cup

Graeme Fish, who hails from Moose Jaw, was back in action for the ISU Speed Skating World Cup 3, from Dec. 5-7 in the Netherlands.

Fish competed in the men’s 10,000-metre Division B event to finish tenth with a time of 13:01.42 seconds.
