Pletz at the IBU World Cup races
Regina biathlete Logan Pletz competed the International Biathlon Union World Cup race on Dec. 8 in Slovenia. Pletz and Canadian teammate Benita Pieffer finished in 23rd place in the single mixed relay event.

Dash, Wright named to wheelchair curling team
Wolseley’s Gil Dash and Moose Jaw’s Marie Wright have been named to Canada’s lineup for the 2023 World Wheelchair Curling Championship.
Dash will serve as the second for Team Canada while Wright is the team’s fifth when the tournament begins Mar. 4 in Richmond, B.C.

Neufeldt competes at skeleton World Cup
Saskatoon’s Evan Neufeldt completed another race on the IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup circuit, finishing 20th place in the men’s skeleton race in Germany.
Neufeldt put up a time of 58.52 seconds in his first run and better than in his second run which clocked in with a time of 58.20, just 0.76 seconds behind first place.

Sask. at the World Junior Hockey Championships
Saskatoon’s Kevin Korchinski and Davidson’s Nolan Allan and the rest of Team Canada won gold at the IIHF World Junior Championships in Halifax and Moncton on Jan. 5.
The Canadian team also featured Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard, who was named the tournament MVP. Prince Albert’s Kelly Guard was Canada’s goaltending consultant. Fellow Saskatchewan product Tarrington Wyonzek was selected to work the gold medal game as an on-ice official.

Erica Gavel inducted into Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame
Canadian Paralympian Erica Gavel has been inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame.
Gavel, a Prince Albert wheelchair basketball athlete, is among eight inductees. The induction banquet for the Class of 2023 will be on May 6.
