Korte to join Team Canada for 2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship
The team set to represent Canada at the 2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship from Jan. 10-18 in in Sydney and Membertou, Nova Scotia was released and includes Saskatoon forward, Alida Korte.
Canada is set to play in Group A against Sweden, Switzerland and Hungary.
On the coaching side, Sheldon Goertzen will attend as goaltending coach and Jason Weber as the team’s strength and conditioning coach, with both hailing from Saskatoon.

Allan, Team Canada wrap time at 2025 Spengler Cup
After the 2025 Spengler Cup concluded on Dec. 31, defencemen Nolan Allan, who hails from Davidson, wrapped his time in Davos, Switzerland, with Canada finishing second in their group.
After starting out strong with a 3-2 win over the U.S. Collegiate Selects, Canada fell back-to-back 4-1 to HC Davos and 5-1 against HC Sparta Prague in quarterfinals.
Scott Cyr, from Saskatoon, joined the team as their physiotherapist.
Kuemper to represent Canada at Olympics
Saskatoon goaltender, Darcy Kuemper, was named as part of the 25-player roster set to represent the nation in Italy for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
Kuemper will bring his experience of claiming gold with Canada’s National Men’s Team at the 2021 IIHF World Championship to his Olympic debut in February.
Canada dazzles in bronze
Saskatoon’s Brayden Yager and Prince Albert’s Tanner Howe joined Canada for a bronze medal performance at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa.
After going 4-0 in preliminary action, Canada defeated Slovakia 7-1 in quarterfinals before falling 6-4 to Czechia in semifinals. In the bronze medal game, Canada defeated Finland 6-3 to bring home the hardware.

Puto opens season at North American Cup
Prince Albert-born, Luke Puto made his first appearance of the bobsleigh season with partner Justin Tremblay for the North American Cup in Lake Placid, New York.
The duo finished in 14th with a time of 1:53.65 seconds.
