Tarasoff, Abramowicz dive to medals in Australia
Two Saskatchewan divers both set personal bests while representing the maple leaf on the Gold Coast for the Australian leg of the Southern Cross Diving Series, which took place from Feb. 13-15.
Saskatoon’s Kash Tarasoff stood top of the podium following his results in the men’s 10-metre event with 432.20 points.
While Tazman Abramowicz, who trains out of Saskatoon, claimed silver in the men’s 3-m with 411.75.
As a pair, the two finished second in the 3-m synchro event with 340.80 points.
Oatway top of podium
Kurt Oatway, who started his Para alpine career in Regina, claimed gold at the seventh stop of the Para alpine skiing World Cup circuit in Tignes, France.
He finished first in the men’s sitting downhill event with a time of 1:11.08 seconds.
He has recorded some of his best performances leading into the Milano Cortina Paralympic Games which will commence March 6 in Italy.
Oatway was officially announced as a member of the Paralympic team on Monday.
Connell named to national racquetball team
Racquetball Canada has named Saskatoon’s Lee Connell among those who will represent the nation at the 2026 Pan American Championships, from March 27 to April 4, in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Major at WBSC Americas Men’s Pan American Softball Championship
Max Major, who hails from Delisle, has joined Team Canada at the WBSC Americas Men’s Pan American Championship in Monteria, Colombia, from Feb. 21-28.
The Canadians fell 2-1 in their opening game against defending world champions, Venezuela.
Competing in Group B, Canada will look ahead to games against Colombia and Peru.
Saskatoon’s Ryan Ray is with the team as assistant coach.
