Team Canada comes home empty handed from the Girls’ U19 World Championship
Saskatoon’s Sara Gray and Sophia Magus joined Canada’s volleyball team at the Girls’ U19 World Championship from August 1-10, in Croatia, Hungary.
Canada played within Pool C against Thailand, Peru, Bulgaria, Brazil and Italy. During the preliminary phase games, Canada lost 3-0 against Brazil, Italy and Bulgaria before being edged to a loss 3-2 against Peru. Canada lost to Thailand 3-1 before claiming their only win against Chile 3-1 in the first game of the final round of games. Following their success, Canada had back-to-back losses 3-0 against Mexico and Peru.
The USA took the U19 world title and claimed gold after they defeated Türkiye.

Zablocki joins Team Canada for Three-Game Series against USA
Canada’s women’s U18 team roster has been announced by Hockey Canada for a series vs. USA, set for August 16-19, in Lake Placid, New York.
Stryker Zablocki from Prince Albert will be joining the team for the three-game series.
Team Canada claims silver at Trinbago 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games
Elle Douglas from Saskatoon joined Canada’s U18 rugby team for the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games from August 4-11, in Trinidad and Tobago.
Canada started strong in their first match, defeating Wales 21-7, before a drastic loss to powerhouse Australia 33-0 On the second day of the event, Canada came back victorious against Fiji 19-17 and 59-0 against host, Trinidad and Tobago. To continue their winning streak, Canada defeated Kenya 17-0 before claiming silver after a loss to Australia in the gold medal game.
Wetzstein and Team Canada await 2023 World Rowing Championships
Regina’s John Wetzstein will be joining Team Canada as coach for the 2023 World Rowing Championships from September 3-10, in Belgrade, Serbia.
The event will stand as a qualifier for the National Rowing Team to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Wrestling Canada Lutte has announced Team Canada for the U20 World Championships
Saskatoon’s Caitlin Clatney and Myah Phillips are attending the U20 World Championships with Team Canada from August 14-20 in Amman City, Jordan.
Clatney will be wrestling within the 59-kilogram category, whilePhillips will compete in 76-kg.

Saskatchewan’s men and women’s teams are set to attend the 2023 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships
The 2023 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships are set for August 18-26 in Victoria, BC with various events taking placing within the men’s and women’s teams.
Joining Saskatchewan’s men’s single team will be Darrell Hanoski, Keith Roney and Carter Watson from Regina and Cam McLelland from Saskatoon. The women’s single team will consist of Heather Hanoski and Jean Roney from Regina and Isobel Parkin from Saskatoon.
The men’s pairs and fours team will have Jordan Gailey and Mason Boyd as a pair from Moose Jaw and Jonathan Pituley, Murray Pituley, Brandan and Carter Watson from Regina compiling the foursome. The women’s pair and fours team will be broken into Saskatchewan Team A and B, with Jean Roney and Karen Schlotter from Regina being Team A’s pair. Team B’s pair will be Erin Higgins and Isobel Parkin from Saskatoon, as well as Heather Hanoski, Anita Nivala, Janet Watson from Regina and Elizabeth Jones from Moose Jaw for Team B’s foursome group. Saskatchewan’s Team A’s fours will be Rachel Larson, Heather Howard and Eileen McLelland fromSaskatoon and Harriette Pituley from Regina.
