Sherry Anderson undefeated at senior world championship
Representing Team Canada at the Senior Women’s World Curling Championship in South Korea, Saskatoon’s Sherry Anderson rink is undefeated.
Anderson picked up wins against Japan, Sweden, the United States, Hong Kong and New Zealand for a 5-0 record has earned the team a spot in the playoff round.
The Canadians have will play Lithuania and England in the final games of the round robin, which wraps up on April 27.
Team Canada moving on to quarterfinals at IIHF men’s U18 world championship
A 3-1 record in the preliminary round has the Canadian men’s U18 hockey team advancing to the quarterfinals where they’ll face Switzerland at the IIHF world championship.
The Canadian team, which features Prince Albert’s Tanner Howe as well as Saskatoon’s Berkly Catton, Riley Heidt and Caden Price, defeated Germany, Slovakia and Czechia, while falling to Sweden in their opener.
Canada finishes fifth at U23 Softball World Cup
The U23 Men’s Softball World Cup wrapped up on Sunday with Team Canada finishing in fifth place with a 3-5 record.
After finishing the opening round 3-2, the Canadians advanced to the super round where they fell 3-1 to Argentina, 1-0 to Mexico and 4-0 to Australia, who went on to claim to the gold medal.
Saskatchewan athletes Jordan Hudson, Matthew Kutnikoff, James Shirley and Brant Weibe were a part of the Canadian squad.
Rousell competes at wheelchair fencing world cup
Asquith’s Ryan Rousell finished 13th in the men’s sabre A event as well as 35th in the men’s epee A event while competing at the IWAS Wheelchair Fencing World Cup in France April 20-23.
