Tierney to represent Canada at Pan American Games
Saskatoon’s Blake Tierney has been named to Canada’s swimming team set to compete at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
The group, which consists of 36 athletes, was selected based on performances at the 2023 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials in Toronto. Swimming at the Pan American Games is set to take place Oct. 21-25. Saskatoon’s Graham Olson will also be on Canada’s team staff, as a race analyst.

Clark in action for Canada at women’s worlds
At the Women’s World Hockey Championship in Brampton, Ont., Saskatoon’s Emily Clark and Team Canada are hoping to win their third straight gold medal at the event.
In the opening game on Apr. 5, Canada beat Switzerland 4-0. Two nights later, Clark picked up an assist as Canada defeated Czechia 5-1. The following night, Canada blanked Japan 5-0 before wrapping up pool play with a 4-3 win over the United States, a game in which Clark had another assist in.
Canada is now set to play in the quarter-finals on Thursday. The semifinals will be played on Saturday and the medal games on Sunday.

Magus heading to Pan American Cup
Saskatoon’s Sophia Magus has been selected as one of 12 volleyball athletes that will compete for Canada at the 2023 Girls’ U19 NORCECA Pan American Cup from May 7-15 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Magus, one of two setters on the team, will head to Kitchener, Ont. from May 4-6 to train before the team travels to compete in Puerto Rico.

Ramsay at the Pan Am Racquetball Championship
Saskatoon’s Danielle Ramsay was in action last week at the Pan Am Racquetball Championship in Guatemala.
She was competing in mixed doubles and women’s doubles. In the mixed doubles event, with partner Coby Iwaasa, the pair went 1-2 in the round robin Group 1. However, in the single elimination playoff round, they were defeated by Ecuador’s Maria Munoz and Juan Francisco 11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-9.
In the women’s doubles event, Ramsay was paired with Michele Morissette. However, the Canadian duo dropped both of their round robin games to start the event. The pair then faced Ecuador’s Maria Munoz and Ana Sarmiento in the single elimination playoff round, but lost a close match 12-14, 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 11-9.

Ostepchuk to attend national wheelchair basketball camp
Regina’s Garrett Ostepchuk was among the 13 athletes that will participate in the upcoming Wheelchair Basketball Canada camp and series of exhibition games in Blankenberge, Belgium.
From April 5-9, Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team will participate in a mix of games and practices in preparation for the 2023 season, which includes the IWBF World Championships and the Parapan American Games.

Regina water polo athletes, coach win national awards
Water Polo Canada announced the 2023 National Championship League Senior League award winners and two Regina athletes, who each captured silver at the recent nationals, were recognized.
The men’s Most Valuable Defensive Player award in the regular season went to Marshall Young, while the women’s Most Valuable Defensive Player award in the regular season went to Mikayla Hack.
Team Sask Coach Cyril Dorgigné was presented with the Regular Season Most Valuable Coach award for both the men’s and women’s teams.
