On Thursday, May 20, five athletes, one builder and two teams were inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. All five athletes as well as builder Shannon Miller have competed and/or medaled at the Olympic or Paralympic Games.
Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan congratulates the 2021 induction class, including:
IN THE ATHLETE CATEGORY:
Justin Abdou (Moose Jaw) – Wrestling – competed at the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics.
Rod Boll (Fillmore) – Trapshooting – competed at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics.
Colette Bourgonje (Porcupine Plain) – Track and Cross-Country Skiing – combined 10 medals (three silver, seven bronze) from Summer and Winter Paralympic Games while competing in 10 different Paralympic Games.
Kaylyn Kyle (Saskatoon) – Soccer – bronze medal at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
Lyndon Rush (Humboldt) – Bobsleigh – bronze medal at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and also competed at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.
IN THE BUILDER CATEGORY:
Shannon Miller (Tisdale) – Hockey – silver medal at the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics as head coach for the women’s Canadian hockey team.
IN THE TEAM CATEGORY:
2000-01 University of Regina Cougars Women’s Basketball Team
2013 Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club
