Santiago 2023 Team Canada Updates – October 26th

Team Canada continues to achieve high levels of success, now sitting second in the medal rankings, with a total of 77 medals, 28 of which are gold. 

Blake Tierney, Swimming 

Tierney added two bronze medals to his collection on Tuesday and Wednesday.  

Competing in the men’s 4×200-metre freestyle relay heat race on Tuesday, Tierney and his Canadian teammates raced to a time of 7:25.45 to advance to the final. He didn’t compete with Canada in the final, but the team finished with a time of 7:14.76 to earn themselves and Tierney a bronze medal. 

On Wednesday, Tierney completed his first Pan American Games by earning his fifth medal while helping Canada to a third-place finish in the men’s 4×100-m medley relay with a time of 3:35.72. 

Tierney earned one silver medal and four bronze throughout his time in Santiago. 

Tammara Thibeault, Boxing, 75-kg 

Thibeault competed in the women’s semifinals bout against Mexico’s Citlalli Vanessa Oritz early Thursday morning, taking the win 5-0 and will advance to the finals on Friday. She will take on Panama’s Atheyna Bibeichi Bylon in the final bout.
