Team Canada continues to achieve high levels of success, sitting third in the medal rankings, with a total of 41 medals.
Blake Tierney, Swimming
After a qualifying performance on Monday, Tierney placed third in the men’s 100-metre backstroke final. The Saskatoon local finished with a 54.25 second time, tight to second place with 54.23 and first with 54.20.
Tierney also helped the Canadian Mixed 4×100-m Medley Relay team qualify for the finals, where they finished second. While Tierney didn’t compete in the final race, he did receive a silver medal for his contributions.
The two medals earned on Monday, bring Tierney’s medal count for the Games up to three with one silver and two bronze.
Kelsey Wog, Swimming
Regina-born Kelsey Wog claimed silver in the 200-metre breaststroke final, swimming a time of 2:23.49.
Ashley Leugner, Wakeboard
Ashley Leugner of Fort Qu’Appelle competed in Monday’s wakeboard final, finishing in fifth place with 40 points.
Tammara Thibeault, Boxing, 75-kg
Tammara Thibeault, who was born in Regina, won the quarterfinal bout against Venezuela’s Maryelis Yriza Burguillos 5-0 and will be advancing to the semifinals scheduled for Thursday.
