Santiago 2023 Team Canada Updates – November 22

Canada continues to sit eighth in medal standings, with 24 medals, four of which are gold. 

Myriam Soliman, Para Swimming

On Wednesday, Myriam Soliman swam twice, with mixed results.

In the women’s 50-metre butterfly S7 final, Soliman finished in fourth with a 44.63 time. In her second race, she finished sixth and was ranked 12th in the women’s 50m freestyle S8, with a 39.87 time.

Wyatt Lightfoot, Para Badminton – SH6 Individual

Wyatt Lightfoot, who hails from Assiniboia, started his time in Santiago with two matches on Wednesday.

In the morning, Lightfoot won the men’s singles SH6 match 2-0 (21-5, 21-14) against Argentina’s Jonatan Matias Mattos. Following his strong start, he lost 0-2 (6-21, 10-21) to the United States’ Miles Jacob Krajewski, in the men’s singles SH6 match.
