There’s no limit of sport superstars when it comes to Regina’s Madol family.
All five of the family’s children Majok (25), Amou (23), Akol (20), Ajok (18) and Cher (16) are making names for themselves on the basketball courts and soccer pitches after a lifetime exposed to sport thanks to their parents Abuk Akuer and Deng Madol.
Ajok, who has gravitated to basketball, helped Canada capture bronze at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in July 2023 and now, the six-foot-two forward is a freshman at the University of Minnesota.
Meanwhile, her sister, Amou, competes with the University of Saskatchewan women’s soccer team.
Recently, both Ajok and Amou spoke about the impact sport has had on each of their own lives as well as their family’s and shared their thoughts on the importance of representation and Black History Month.
