Senft, Canada set for quarterfinal match at the Women’s Rugby World Cup

Regina’s Gabrielle Senft and Team Canada’s Senior Women’s rugby team defeated the USA 29-14 on the weekend and are now set to take on the United States again in the quarterfinals on Sat. Oct. 29 at 9:30 p.m. SK time.

With a record of 3-0, Canada finishes atop Pool B and will enter the playoff round as the No. 2 seed, behind host New Zealand.

Fish named to Canada’s Long Track Speed Skating Team for Fall World Cups

Moose Jaw’s Graeme Fish will be among the athletes that will represent Canada at this fall’s ISU World Cup speed skating events, which includes two competitions this December in Calgary.

Fish will join 15 other Canadians for the first two World Cups in Norway (Nov. 11-13) and the Netherlands (Nov. 18-20). He will also be part of the Canadian contingent for back-to-back World Cups on Dec. 9-11 and Dec. 16-18 in Calgary.

Several Saskatchewan products named to 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

Hockey Canada has announced the three Canadian rosters that will compete at the 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, Nov. 3-12 in Langley and Delta, B.C.

Among the Sask. products are Cole Peardon (Outlook), Tyson Buczkowski (Saskatoon), Berkly Catton (Saskatoon), Tarin Smith (Porcupine Plain), Chase Wutzke (Debden) and Roger McQueen (Saskatoon) along with mental performance consultant Kyle McDonald (Regina).

Keely Shaw drops out of UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championship

Midale’s Keely Shaw, who won bronze at the Tokyo Paralympics, was gearing up the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships on the weekend, but as she wrote on Instagram on Friday, she was forced to withdraw from the event after contracting COVID-19.
