Four Saskatchewan representatives on Olympic long track speed skating team
White City’s Marsha Hudey and Moose Jaw’s Graeme Fish will be part of the Canadian long track speed skating team competing at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
The roster, which features eight male and female skaters as well as five non-travelling alternates was announced on Monday, Jan. 17. The team will also include Saskatoon McClements as a member of the Canadian coaching staff and Saskatoon Mark Jesney as a physiotherapist.
This will be the third Olympics for Hudey, who will be racing in the women’s 500-metre event. She previously competed in the same event at the 2014 and 2018 Olympics, finishing 31st and 10th respectively.
Meanwhile, Fish will be making his Olympic debut in the men’s 10,000-m race. In February 2020, Fish set a new world record in the 10,000-m, which has since been broken.
