Wiens, Erlam compete at diving World Cup Montreal
It’s one down and two to go for Pike Lake’s Rylan Wiens and Saskatoon’s Margo Erlam as they compete for Canada on the diving World Cup circuit.
First up, from Feb. 29 to March 3, was a stop in Montreal.
Wiens finished sixth in the men’s 10-metre individual platform event with a score of 479.35 points, and also teamed up with Nathan Zsombor-Murray for the men’s synchronized 10-m event, finishing fifth with 409.95 points.
Meanwhile, Erlam partnered with Aimee Wilson in the women’s 3-m springboard and just missed the podium with a score of 285.90 in fourth place.
The next stop of the circuit will be March 21-24 in Berlin, with the final stop scheduled for April 19-21 in China.
Team Saskatchewan competing at the Brier
Heading into their fifth game of the Montana Brier in Regina, Team Saskatchewan holds a 3-1 record.
The team, which includes Mike McEwen (skip), Daniel Marsh (lead), Kevin Marsh (second) and Colton Flasch (third), won both their first two games over Prince Edward Island and Team Canada 7-6 and then followed that up with a 6-5 win over Alberta. The team’s only loss was a 7-4 defeat by Nova Scotia.
Saskatchewan will wrap round robin play up with games against Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Quebec.
Pat Simmons is also a part of the Saskatchewan team as an alternate, while Brent Laing is the team’s coach.
