Ghana-born and Saskatoon-raised coach Mavis Dzaka first joined the Huskies Athletics track and field program as an athlete in 1999 and then came back to the team as a coach in 2011.
With the pandemic changing the sport landscape in 2020 and 2021, Dzaka decided to seize the opportunity to complete some personal development by applying for the Black Female Coach Mentorship Program in November —a new joint initiative between the Coaching Association of Canada and the Black Canadian Coaches Association. She was successfully selected as one of 17 mentees for the program.
