Sports Day in Canada is a new national event that celebrates sport at all levels across Canada. Understanding Team Selection Process
Canadian athletes, coaches, officials and other members of the sport community are subject to a selection process in order to participate in the various sporting events at the different levels. The process by which they are selected can lead to disagreements and disputes. The Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC) has published this brochure to assist members of the sport community to understand the basic principles of team selection and to build sound team selection policies that will reduce the risk of disputes. >> more NEWS

Call for applications – Stacey Levitt Women and Sport Scholarship

The Stacey Levitt Women and Sport Scholarship, valued at $2500, is awarded annually to a young woman, a girls' team, or a sport organization that exemplifies Stacey's ideals and qualities. Byers wins at team trials

Kia Byers of Regina's Wascana Racing Canoe Club won the senior women's K-1 200 metres Saturday at the Canadian canoe-kayak team trials in Montreal. The 200m is a new Olympic distance for the 2012 Summer Games in London. >> more NEWS

Valentine wins diving medals
SP Services - May 17, 2010
Sam Valentine of Saskatoon won two medals at the Dutch Open diving meet in Amsterdam during the weekend. On Saturday, Valentine won gold in the boys 14-15 10-metre tower event while teammates Dylan Grisell and Vincent Riendeau, both of Montreal, finished in second and third.

Regina's Reuben Ross won a gold medal Saturday at the Canada Cup FINA Grand Prix diving competition in Montreal. Ross teamed with three-time world champion Alexandre Despatie of Laval, Que., to finish first in the three-metre synchro. Despatie also won the men's three-metre springboard. The competition served as a qualifying meet for the FINA World Cup, June 2-6 in China. >> more NEWS

Regina's Simon Bairu shattered a nine-year-old Canadian record in the 10,000m Saturday at the Payton Jordan Invitational track and field meet, which was held at Stanford University. Bairu, 26, finished fifth in a time of 27 minutes 23.63 seconds. The old record of 27:36.01 was set by Vancouver's Jeff Schiebler in 2001. Saturday's race was won by Bairu's training partner, American Chris Solinsky, who set a new U.S. record with his time of 26:59.60. >> more NEWS

Valentine wins three diving gold

The Saskatoon Diving Club took 23 divers to the western diving championships in Regina this weekend, with ages ranging from six to 15 years old. Sam Valentine picked up three gold medals and a provincial record in the boys 14-15 platform event. Teammate Jayden Pantel took two silvers and a bronze in the same events. >> more NEWS

Premier Brad Wall held a ceremony at the Legislative Building today to honour and congratulate all of the Saskatchewan athletes, coaches and officials on a very successful 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic showing. >> more NEWS

Saskatchewan Olympians and Paralympians join forces with the Regina Police School Resources and Regina Schools
Saskatchewan Olympians and Paralympians who participated in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games made a special visit yesterday to Grades 5 to 8 students at eight Regina elementary schools. The athletes joined together with officers from the Regina Police School Resources to visit the students and to share the positive messages of goal setting, overcoming obstacles, making healthy choices, and good self-esteem. >> more NEWS

Hayley Wickenheiser remains rooted in Shaunavon
