Yves Belanger never had a natural knack for being a speed skating official. Belanger, who is going to the Vancouver Olympics as a race starter, remembers the first time he officiated the sport. His oldest daughter, Lindsay, then a member of the Saskatoon Lions Speed Skating Club, was taking part in a meet in 1988 at the Cosmo Civic Centre.

Canada's 2010 Flag Bearer Clara Hughes Will Lead Team of 206 Athletes into Vancouver 2010
Vancouver, January 29, 2010
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) today announced that five-time Olympic medallist Clara Hughes has been named Canada’s flag bearer for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The announcement came as the COC also officially named the 206 athletes who will compete for Canada at "home" in Vancouver, Whistler and Richmond during the XXI Olympic Winter Games that begin on February 12.

Kevin Martin got what he wanted from his team's last competition before the Vancouver Olympics. Martin's Alberta rink defeated long-time Ontario foe Glenn Howard 6-4 in Sunday's BDO Classic Canadian Open in front of 4,115 fans at MTS Centre.
