National Coaching Institute Saskatchewan
The National Coaching Institute Saskatchewan aims to develop coaches who are capable of preparing athletes for podium success at Provincial and/or National level competitions. Through the NCI SK coaches will participate in the Coaching Association of Canada Advanced Coaching Diploma. The Diploma consists of four core themes: Coaching Leadership, Coaching Effectiveness, Performance Planning, and Training and Competition Readiness. Each theme consists of 20 three-hour units of facilitated learning, workshops, or laboratory/practical activity. Coaches will be evaluated in each theme based on their ability to demonstrate competency in coaching developing athletes. Coaches in the diploma program will work with a designated master/mentor coach who will support them in the completion of their program requirements. The diploma program requires a mid-point and final evaluation by a panel of content specialists.
The pre-requisites for entry to the diploma program are: NCCP Competition-Development or NCCP Level 3 certification, a letter of intent and sport resume of the candidate coach, and a letter of endorsement from the National Sport Organization. A special case may be made for coaches from sports where Competition-Development isn't available. A mapping document is available for coaches who have completed a portion of the old NCCP Level 4 to allow for transition to the Diploma program.
For more information go to www.coach.ca and select the NCCP Training tab and go to National Coaching Institute and NCI Advanced Coaching Diploma.
